Kuala Lumpur, 31 May 2013 – While the Standard Chartered KL Marathon continues to receive overwhelming response this year, sponsors in this perspective remain unsung heroes. They have played important roles throughout the event and their contributions and support has allowed many charity beneficiaries benefit from the Marathon.  

Stepping into its fifth year, MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd is proud to be a Gold sponsor and sponsor of the 10km and MSIG Ekiden Challenge again this year. The marathon’s charitable focus also sits well with MSIG. For instance, at the inaugural MSIG Ekiden Challenge in 2011, RM28, 000 was raised for victims of Japan's Fukushima tsunami/earthquake. In 2012, MSIG donated RM15, 000 each to The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) and EcoKnights. This year, MSIG has committed to donate RM50 for every staff and business partner who registers for the marathon.

MSIG CEO, Mr. Chua Seck Guan said, “We are proud to give back to the communities we operate in and being part of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon is our opportunity to go above and beyond”.

The Standard Chartered KL Marathon is a significant activity in MSIG’s CSR programme as it echoes the corporation’s “personality traits” of being Active, Confident, Efficient and Sincere (ACES). The MSIG Ekiden Challenge introduced in 2011 was in recognition of MSIG’s long-standing sponsorship and support. The relay race is now official category for public participation.
