"Power In Your Pocket" - the all new Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 envisioned the camera to be both small and powerful. I attended the product launch last week and was given a hands-on chance to play around with this new model.

Some of the bloggers in attendance |
The camera boost just too many features into a small package that could very possibly make post-processing via PC/Mac software redundant. As this blog entry will not be about the technical specification but more of a layman-ease-of-use, you can peruse the full list of the features here. The Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 is retailing at RM2499 at authorised reseller and at Sony stores nationwide.

Can See, Can Touch, Can bring home - just buy them from Sony! |
Sony Malaysia has prepared a few items in vivid color for those in attendance to capture with the
Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 . For myself, those images will be too easy to be captured and will not show the full potential of the camera in the "assisted" lighting. Here is a sample taken using my dSLR.

50mm on f1.8 |
Instead, why not take something "darker" as the
Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 has the ability and claims to have very good sensitivities in the darkness? Looking around, i spotted a light on the ceiling. Decided to take it in monochrome for the effect and see how the dSLR and the
Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 would produce.
First up is the image captured by the dSLR.

Nothing special, just testing it out. |
Here it is on Sony
Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 .

Showed more details? |
Comparing the EXIF data from both the camera (so much for NOT wanting to be technical), the automatic setting of the
Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 has bumped up the ISO to 800 at F1.8 with exposure time of 1/80s and 28mm equivalent (to 35mm).

Sony
Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 Exif |
|
dSLR Exif |
The dSLR exif shows that it was taken at F2 at ISO200 and at 1/30s. Notably, we can't compare these two images together. Which was why i find technicality (on specification) with photography to be non-sensical from an amateur point of view ;-)
So, what's my point here exactly?
With Sony
Cyber-shot DSC-RX100, there is no point for you to lug around a heavy dSLR to capture images unless your profession requires you to produce billboard sized images.

Make. Believe. |
In conjunction with the launch of
Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 , Sony Malaysia is holding a competition for bloggers to win a spanking new (what else?)
Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 . All the blogger need to do is to write a blog of at least 500 words entry using the theme "Power In Your Pocket", submit it between August 1 and September 2, 2012. So, how do i envision it? Remember that i wanted to sell all my camera gears here?
How about letting me win this
Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 so i don't need to try hiding the bulky dSLR under my jacket?
|
This is NOT Power in your pocket. |
In conjunction with this competition, I've lived by Sony's corporate slogan of Make. Believe. I MAKE myself one Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100. I BELIEVE that it is real. I put it in my POCKET to feel the POWER. Here is my personal interpretation of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 : Power In Your Pocket

Let me win it, so it literally goes into my pocket. Thank you Sony Malaysia!
All the best and hope you win! :)
ReplyDeleteBased on the comparison shots; the details look good. But sometimes too much details in an image is quite "bleh..."
Thanks Andrew!
