A Sportsman's Prayer
O God please help me to win for i always want to win,
But if in thy inscrutable wisdom thou willest me not to win,
Then make me a good loser.
For when the one great scorer comes to write against your name,
He writes,
Not that you won or lost,
But how you played the game.
Desaru International Long Distance Triathlon is a few days away.
I'm not sure how prepared i am to face this race this time around.
I did a 7:41 last year. Hardly anything compared to the champ or even the average racer. But in all, i was proud, as that was the longest distance i've ever raced in my entire life, topping even my first attempt this year in KLIM.
I was at my peak, almost, at Desaru, weighing in at only 75kg and it felt great. Fast forward to present day, i'm 82kg now. A good 7kg which i attribute to more weight room and lifting. I've always wanted to look big. But i almost always ended up looking fat.
Anyway, as Desaru's 2km swim, 90km bike and 21km run beckons on me this Saturday...all i know is i got to give my all.
Phiten has surely helped me recover from heavy lifting everyday. It would be interesting to see what it could do for me after the Long Distance race on Saturday as i'll be doing the Sprint on Sunday as well. It's just a 500m swim, 15km bike and 3km run.
Infact, Phiten has helped my 7months pregnant sweet wife to sleep well at night. Yes, of course i'm excited about the baby. I felt ripple of movement yesterday, much like the lil boy inside are moving his arms! It's magical!
Desaru this time around is also very important to me, as this will mark my very last race this year.
I've decided to take a sabbatical until next year as baby's coming and i want to be with the baby in his first few months in this world. It's also for wifey to rest, afterall, she will had taken 9 months of her life to carry him, what is a few months for me to sacrifice?
Baby Ryan at 25th week. I shalt upload new ultrascan of him next week when we see Dr. Raman
Wish me luck. I just want to finish the race this weekend. Anything more is a big bonus.
And of course, i'll recite the Sportman's Prayer to my baby boy, for i believe he is already a winner when he is borned into the world.
Now wait while i plan his swimming, cycling and running lessons....
